James Schramko here, and there’s a common saying in selling that if you have a simple product, make it sound complex. And if you have a complex product, make it sound simple. It may have come from Joe Sugarman, I’m not sure. But I definitely read about it in one of his books. And here’s the thing – sometimes the tools you have and all the things that you’re doing in your business are just too complex.
You might have bought into this idea that you need to have a complex business to have a serious business. But the truth couldn’t be further apart from that fact. The situation is this, if you can simplify, if you can remove things from your business, if you can make things less complex; if you can have less task lists, less software tools, less bureaucracy, and paperwork and rules; you might find a simpler business is actually more profitable and certainly more enjoyable and not just for you but for your team as well.
So, I encourage you, look for ways that you can simplify your business. We use the minimum tools in our business. We have a more exciting time on the work that we’re doing because things are just easier.
